Daum Nancy vases with applied insects or cabochons are special as it required considerable workmanship. First colored foil was applied to the molten glass, which was then covered with molten clear glass. When the vase was cold, a craftsman wheel-carved the details into the insect and the cabochon. The result is a green bug with eyes and legs and a faceted red cabochon. Makes for a great little, 4¾", vase. Signed. Mint condition.
