An extra layer of color can make all the difference in the world. This beautiful Gallé clematis blownout vase has a white layer below the two different red layers. The vase "pops", as a result. This is only the second time I've ever had one with the extra white layer. 6½" tall. Signed. Mint condition.
The rose-red color on this Clematis blownout vase is outstanding, in part because of the additional white glass layer under the flowers, making them more opaque and richer. Most blownout vases do not have this extra layer of color. It's an exceptional example in mint condition. Signed. 6½".
All Gallé blownout vases are important, as is this example of a Crocus vase. The colors are lovely blues and purples, on a shaded amber to lemon yellow background. Beautiful color, condition and shape. Nice cabinet size at 8½" tall. Acid-etched cameo signature Gallé on the side of the vase. Mint condition.
I'm calling this beautiful Gallé blownout vase, a red floral blownout, because I don't know the name of the flower. (If you do, please email me.) I think it's a Japanese tree, but I'm just guessing. That doesn't change the quality, workmanship or rarity of the vase. It's super. The size is nice and big at 13¾" tall. Signed. Mint condition.
Recently I've had the good fortune of finding several Gallé blownout vases in different patterns. Blownout vases are special and very desirable. This example with fuchsia flowers is killer! The color is knock-your-socks-off wonderful. Signed. Mint condition. 11½" tall.
Never know what I'm going to acquire next. It happened to be an almost identical vase to fuchsia blownout vase pictured above. They're almost a pair. There is no red in the bottom quarter of the vase, but there's more yellow. It's just as fabulous, but lower priced. Signed. Mint condition. 11½" tall.
Galle made many different models of blownout vases. Fuchsia is one of the prettiest. This is a wonderful example with pink flowers. (Fuchsia blownouts also come in blue or purple.) The color changes beautifully between reflected and transmitted light. Click on the thumbnail to see the difference. Signed. Mint condition.
There are many times I don't have a single Gallé blownout vase for sale. Fortunately, I have several for sale at the moment. This example, with lavender grapes, is quite beautiful. There are other examples with green grapes (that are not as nice, in my opinion). Nice and big at 11" tall and almost as wide. Signed. Mint condition.
Gallé blownout vases are very popular and sell faster than almost any other Gallé vases. This is an exceptional example with blue hyacinth flowers on yellow, utilizing the windowpane technique, so the blue color stays true. Good size at 12" tall. Signed. Mint condition.
I haven't had a blownout vase for sale for quite some time. They're rare and quite desirable. The technique is first to blow the vase into a mold, then follow by acid-etching and finally wheel-polishing. The mold assures that each example will have the same design, but the color can vary significantly from one example to the next. This particular example has gorgeous pastel red flowers on a yellow-amber background. It's just as pleasing to the eye as can be. Nice size at 12". Signed. Mint condition.
Gallé blownout vases are very popular and sell faster than almost any other Gallé vases. This is a beautiful example with pink hyacinth flowers on yellow, utilizing the windowpane technique, so the pink color stays true. Nice, busy decoration surrounding almost the entire vase. Interesting flattened shape. Nice size at 11½" tall. Signed. Mint condition.
It's not often I get Gallé blownout vases of this quality. Let's start with the great detail and workmanship. Then let's go to the color -- gorgeous deep amber plums, with a tinge of red. Then the blownoutosity (I made up that word) -- the plums are really blownout, realistic, and completely encircling the vase. Finally the impressive size -- 12½" tall and bulbous. It's a wonderful, important vase that belongs in the best collections.
Gallé blownout vases were produced in molds. Subject matter varies from flowers to fruit to animals. They are all rarer and more desirable than most vases that are not blownout. Standard acid-etching techniques were used after the molten glass was formed in a mold with compressed air. Each model comes in different color variations.
This example has very pretty yellow-orange rowan berries. The rowans, also known as mountain-ashes, are shrubs or trees in the genus Sorbus of the rose family, Rosaceae. Gallé mostly used local flora for their subject matter, so that means they grew in France.
11¼" tall. Cameo signature on the side of the vase Gallé. Mint condition.
Gallé produced approximately 50 different models of blownout vases. This example is called Rowanberry, part of the rose family. I think Gallé took artistic license with this vase as all the photos I’ve been able to find show the berries as orange or red. Regardless, it’s rare and beautiful, with no grinding (as found on too many examples).
Signed Gallé in cameo on the side of the vase. 11" tall. Mint condition.
All Gallé blownout vases are desirable, but some more than others. This model with water lilies is one of the best. It comes in several color variations, this being one of the rarest and prettiest, with green flowers on a sky blue background. Signed in cameo on the side. 10" tall. Mint condition. For the best collections.
The water lily blownout vase is one of the prettiest of all the blownout vases done by Gallé. I haven't owned one in years and now I have this beautiful example with tan and pink flowers for sale. Instead of many small flowers, there are just three large gorgeous flowers. Just an outstanding, superior vase for the best collections. Signed. Mint condition.
The water lily blownout vase is rare and beautiful. It's one of the prettiest of all the blownout vases done by Gallé. This beautiful example has strong pink flowers, making it a superior example. It's an outstanding, special vase for the best collections. 10¼" tall. Signed. Mint condition.
The addition of an extra layer of glass to a cameo vase results in more opaque flowers. That's a very good thing because the contrast increases substantially, making the flowers "pop". That's the result in this very beautiful Gallé floral vase with striking powder blue flowers with purple highlights. It's not your ordinary vase. Lovely footed shape. Nice cabinet size at 6¾" tall. Etched signature "Gallé" in the background, toward the bottom. Mint condition.
Gallé used a technique called window pane to make sure the color of the flowers didn't mix with the background colors. In this example, the vivid blue and purple of the flowers doesn't mix with the yellow of the background, unintentionally creating green flowers. The flowers appear against a white window. The result is a truly outstanding example of Gallé's work.
The shape is an elegant, flattened form, in a super cabinet size, 10" wide x 4¾" deep x 8" tall. Acid-etched signature in the background, toward the bottom, Gallé. Mint condition.
This is a special example for the discriminating collector.
I wish I were a botanist so I could identify all of Gallé's flowers, but unfortunately I'm not. The flowers look like clematis, but I don't think they are. What's special is the windowpane technique used to keep the flowers blue. Otherwise the yellow background would mix with the blue flowers, making them appear green. It's a lovely vase, 5" tall x 6½" diameter. Signed in cameo on the side. Mint condition.
Blue floral vases are rarer than red and orange floral vases. This is a lovely example with pretty flowers and color and utilizes the windowpane technique to keep the color of the blue flowers true. It also has a flattened shape, which adds to its desirability. 7" tall. Signed. Mint condition.
Blue vases and red vases are equally collectible, but blue vases are a bit more difficult to find. This is a lovely example, done in the windowpane technique, so the blue color of the flowers doesn't mix with the yellow in the background. The bulbous shape gives more surface area for more flowers. All in all, a fine vase. Nice size at 9" tall. Signed. Mint condition.
This is a very pretty vase with most unusual coloring. The strong blue layer was covered with a strong green layer, so when the green was cut back with acid, it revealed the beautiful blue flowers below. As the vase is bulbous and 8" tall, it's size is impressive. The technique is acid-etching followed by wheel-polishing. It was carefully done, so the detail is excellent. Signed. Mint condition.
This is one of Gallé's best shapes. It's a flattened pilgrim vase with canoe-shaped mouth and substantial at 10" tall. To top it off, the colors are strong, the contrast is excellent and the etching is detailed. The windowpane technique behind the blue flowers keeps the color pure. All in all, a super vase. Signed. Mint condition.
I don't often get Galle floral vases with the vivid coloration of this vase. It's quite exceptional. The flowers are done in the windowpane technique, so the strong blue of the flowers don't mix with the background color to show green flowers. Instead, both the flower color and the background color are strong and not mixed. This is a really special vase for the discriminating collector. Nice big, important size at 14". Signed. Mint condition.
Lovely example of Gallé's blue and yellow combination in a diminutive size. Fuchsia flowers are beautiful in real life and just as beautiful on this vase. The technique is acid-etching, followed by wheel-polishing of the flowers and leaves. The small size (4" tall) is perfect for some collectors. Signed. Mint condition. Priced to sell quickly.
Sometimes a certain Gallé vase is a cut above the rest. This particular example has it all going for it. First are the really beautiful blue trumpet flowers, with strong color on a strong amber background. Next is the use of the windowpane technique, which puts a colorless pane behind each flower, so the yellow of the background doesn't mix with the blue of the flowers to form green flowers. The form is classic, with big shoulders. Additionally the decoration completely surrounds the entire vase, so there is no front or back. 5½" tall x 6" diameter. Signed in cameo on the side. Mint condition.
Most Galle vases have only two layers of colored glass for the decoration, so I get excited when they have three. This example has a darker green layer on top, then a blue-green layer in the middle, and a blue layer on the bottom. That allows color effects and variations that can't be achieved with fewer layers. The flowers are really blue, with beautifully detailed and colorful leaves and stems. Pretty shape. Good size at 6½" tall x 5" diameter. Signed. Mint condition.
Earlier Gallé production vases were more carefully crafted than vases after his death in 1904. This example is exceptional. The workmanship, colors and contrast are head over heels better than the typical vase. If you're looking to add a truly outstanding vase to your collection, this is it. Very nice size at 13½". Beautiful cameo signature on the side, Gallé. Mint condition.
I've had more than my share of Gallé lamps over 50 years, but this is the best and the biggest. It's museum-quality and truly killer!
The chrysanthemum flowers are gorgeous, with intense, beautiful, blue, purple and yellow colors. The flowers are all windowpane, meaning the yellow glass layer on the interior of the shade, behind each of the flowers, is etched away. It keeps the color of the flowers pure, instead of combining the blue and yellow layers to get green flowers. Two butterflies on the top of shade are a fantastic bonus.
The lamp measures a massive 20½" diameter x 30" tall. It will not fit in your cabinet, but rather needs its own place of honor in your home. Fully signed, both base and shade. Mint condition.
Gallé lamps do not get better than this! It's for the most important collections.
I love the flattened-triangle shape of this Gallé Chrysanthemum vase. It's one of my favorite. The flower is great too because it's big and showy. Now add the great red color to the beautiful yellow background and you've got one winner of a vase. Very nice size at 8" tall x 8¼" wide. This will be a great addition to any French cameo glass collection. Signed. Mint condition.
