Tiffany Favrile, Wheel-Carved Lily Vase
There's an interesting story behind this vase. A lady contacted me for an appraisal of her Tiffany vase. I couldn't believe it when I saw the photo of a spectacular, authentic, Tiffany Favrile wheel-carved vase.
The lady said it was a gift to her mother years ago and she would like me to sell it for her. I was very pleased to oblige.
The vase is 16" tall and heavy, with thick walls. The base glass is white covered with a green layer, which is then covered with a gold iridescent layer. The magic of the vase happened when a very skilled craftsman carved a gorgeous lily flower and bud and leaves into the vase. It's a very rare example that I haven't seen one quite like before. The suffix J in the number indicates it was made in 1915.
The condition is excellent except for a 1" scratch below the flower and above some overlapping leaves. There is also some scuffing around the foot rim. It's all very minor, especially for such an important vase.
