The workmanship and beauty of this carved chalice is astonishing. Let me explain. First the three individual parts had to be hand-blown and assembled while the glass was molten. Then while still molten, the green glass was added. It then was iridized while hot. On cooling, it was transferred to a master craftsman, who meticulously carved all the detail in the grape leaves and clusters, as well as the leaf and vine decoration on the stem.
